Transit to olden times and places

August 11th - For me flying is a step into the void, perhaps over the edge of the abyss. After these many years it is still a leap of faith to strap into my seat for take-off. If it was not the lure of wonderful distant places, or other necessities, I would stay firmly on ground. But the air and the sea are now pathways to magic places and I must go. Today Felicity, my just graduated 17 year-old daughter, and I catch a 7:30 am flight from Victoria to Toronto where, after an extremely short visit with my other child, Verity, a 20 year old University student, we then strap in at 21:00 for an overseas flight to Rome. For both Felicity and me it is a trip to a nearly mythical place.
