 Solstice 2020

Lesley gets so excited about the season even if it is also the season of the plague. Central to the celebration is food. Love of the season she expresses through tradition and meals:

This year I stumbled across the world's most beautiful and tasty pomegranate.  It became the centrepiece to my celebration.  Lesley set the stage, sort of a "We Three Kings" theme.  She allowed me to place my exquisite pomegranate  in the centre of her nativity scene.  What fascinated me about the pomegranate was its various roles in Greek Mythology, particularly themes on the birth of seasons, of the wealth of the harvest, together with love and various regulation of the fertility of the gods and the people. So Lesley and I collaborated. Here is a nativity scene centring on that glorious pomegranate.

All I had to do with it was the placement of the pomegranate.  Happy Solstice, Christmas and New Years.  Celebrate all the diverse and beautiful myths surviving from those distant times in the human story.  Be safe and healthy this New Year.
